This Pride Month, we launched Hair Talks: Power in Pride, a content series and community event celebrating self-expression, connection, and the beauty of being seen. Through intimate conversations and powerful transformations, we explored how hair is more than just a look. It’s a form of identity, resilience, and joy.
Hair Talks Series
We kicked off our first-ever Pride Month video series with three beautiful episodes featuring individuals from across the LGBTQIA+ community. Each story was a celebration of authenticity, personal style, and the relationships that ground us.
@chaserunaway
Chase (@chaserunaway)
Drag queen, creator, and champion of queer joy, Chase brings art to life. In our first episode, she shares her journey through drag, which she began over 12 years ago, and reflects on how beauty, identity, and community come together in her world.
For Chase, drag is a moving art piece. Hair, makeup, and fashion are all part of the performance. Recently featured in Allure, she continues to shine a spotlight on the power of visibility, reminding us that education and representation matter, especially when morale feels low.
From the stage to the mirror, Chase shows us what it means to own your power and create space for others to do the same.
@jasonvartikar
Jason and Gladys (@jasonvartikar)
This father-daughter duo gave us one of the most heartwarming moments of the series. Jason sat down with us to reflect on his journey of self-discovery and identity within the LGBTQIA+ community and the love he now pours into raising his daughter, Gladys.
From small moments to big truths, this episode reminds us that Pride is also about quiet strength. Showing up for the next generation with love, honesty, and care.
Luna and Christina
In our final episode, we meet Luna and Christina, two people who found a deep, instant connection that helped each of them better understand themselves.
Together, they talk about hair, style, chosen family, and what it means to be seen — truly seen — by someone else. Their story is a celebration of transformation, trust, and the beauty of building your own community through shared experiences and radical acceptance.
Wavytalk Pride Talks & Touch-Ups Live in NYC
Moments from our Pride Talks & Touch-Ups event
To bring the community together in real life, we hosted Wavytalk Pride Talks & Touch-Ups, a morning of glam, storytelling, and celebration right before the NYC Pride Parade.
From the moment guests arrived, the room was buzzing with energy and our panelists brought incredible insight and authenticity to the space
Sammy Picone, pole dancer and teacher, reminded us of the healing power of movement and somatic self-expression
Essence, an Ivy League graduate and cultural commentator, offered a powerful lens into fashion, identity, and her experience as a Black trans woman in academic spaces
Teo Marcella, beauty and lifestyle creator, shared how accessible, expressive style can unlock confidence and empower others to embrace their individuality
This event was more than a celebration. It was a space to feel seen, supported, and inspired by the stories of others.
Pride Is Power
At Wavytalk, we believe in creating tools that empower people to see and express themselves. Pride Month is a celebration, but it’s also a reminder of the power of community, care, and showing up exactly as you are, all year long.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in person, online, and in spirit. We are proud to celebrate you.
