Everything You Need to Know About IPL Hair Removal

How it works, who it’s for, and how to get the best results

Why Is Hair Removal So Frustrating?

Shaving grows back fast

Waxing is painful

Laser is expensive

Wavytalk advanced IPL devices incorporate features such as dual-pulse delivery, where energy is released in two sequential pulses. The initial pulse prepares the treatment area, while the second pulse delivers energy more precisely to the follicle. This approach helps distribute thermal energy more evenly while improving treatment comfort.

No Missed Spots, Just Smooth Skin

Precision flashes help cover every area more evenly for a smoother IPL routine.

More Energy. Less Waiting.

Dual-pulse technology helps speed up your IPL routine while targeting hair more effectively.

What Is IPL Hair Removal?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal is a light-based technology designed to reduce unwanted hair over time. It uses broad-spectrum light to target pigment (melanin) within the hair, making it a widely used method for at-home and professional hair reduction treatments.

How Does IPL Hair Removal Work?

IPL technology emits controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light that are selectively absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft. Once absorbed, this light energy is converted into thermal energy, which travels down to the hair follicle beneath the skin. This thermal effect gradually disrupts the follicle’s activity within the hair growth cycle, reducing its ability to regenerate hair over time with repeated treatments.

Understand Energy & Wavelength in IPL

Wavelength determines how deeply light can penetrate the skin. Shorter wavelengths tend to act closer to the surface, while longer wavelengths can reach deeper into the hair follicle. A broad wavelength range (typically 600–1200nm) allows IPL to target hair at different depths.

Energy, on the other hand, defines how much thermal effect is delivered to the follicle. Sufficient energy is required to effectively influence the hair growth cycle and achieve consistent results over time.Together, wavelength controls how deep the light goes, while energy determines how effective the treatment is.

IPL Treatment Tips

Before You Start

Shave the treatment area before use. Avoid waxing or plucking, as the hair root needs to remain intact for IPL to be effective.

Recommended Treatment Schedule

Month 1
treat 3 times per week.

You may still see some hair growth. These are most likely hairs that have not yet entered the growth phase at the time of treatment.

Month 2
treat once a week.

You should see a significant slow down in hair growth and a significant reduction in hair density.

After 2 months
treat once a month for long-lasting results as need.

You should see virtually no hair growth!

Recommended Treatment Schedule

Hair grows in different cycles, and IPL is most effective during the active growth phase (anagen phase). Some hairs may be in a resting phase during treatment, which means they are not affected immediately.

If treatment is stopped too early, these follicles can re-enter the growth phase and produce new hair, which may give the impression that the device is not effective.

Consistent use over time is essential to achieve and maintain results.
